Retorna Vida Mia - Oscar D'Leon

In the last week in KL, before heading back to Hong Kong. I'm back at the Hilton for some "nice" sheets and a comfortable mattress! Health wise, doing pretty good, as I have been monitoring the blood pressure.

Speaking of "blood pressure", a few friends (worldwide), thought i was referring to them ...when i wrote about new starts, stops, births...etc. I found out more than I planned on the week after the post. Generally, it was not directed at any of my friends, just my point of view ...looking around.

Special thanks to Nella who has been looking out for me in Tampa...and sent the Oscar D'Leon cd...very nice.

Under Me Sleng Teng - Wayne Smith

So after many fire drills, my big project at work is going live. I probably have had my fill of traditional Malay food, but I'm still enjoying the people.

I'm looking forward to getting back to HK and working standard hours. Since the last post, I've play Badminton ...yes Badminton. I think the last time was 1983 or 1984. The gym was a sauna, but it was 2 hrs of fun.

back to work ...

Saint Germain des Pres : Revisite

Allo,

Been a long time I know. Alot has been going on in the world around me...new additions, separations, new connections, changes, a crazy amount of work, getting used to the KL Hilton, then temporary living apartments, no sleep and being ...GRUMPY.

I figure, I have been away from home (currently Hong Kong), since August 24th. Yep, doesn't that suck as it's November! That being said, the reason I was relocated to Asia (big project at work) is back on track and going live on November 11.

I was telling someone last night at dinner, I'm feeling the changes of living in Asia after 16 months. I every now and then find myself slipping in to the "class" thing and losing my typical Canadian socialism "oriented" point of view. I can hear my friends like Mark - laughing (Texas), Leslie - shrieking (Berkerley/Oakland), but it is harder (not impossible) to maintain your tradional values in many other countries.

It would take me ages to explain the complexity of the "Malay" culture and sub-cultures in Malaysia. That being said, funny enough, Wikipedia had a feature on Malay's today.

Please don't get me wrong, Hong Kong is not the "Promised Land" either, but Asia so far, has sharpened my awareness to the complexity of culture.

ok .... ok ...on a not so serious not, I'm drinking less, since moving out of the KL Hilton!. Being served up drinks at every instance is a bit much and wears on your body. Since moving into the apartment, I've cooked some meals and actually drank more water and worked out.
