too busy reading and ...

waiting for a Typhoon. Well, it missed Hong Kong and hit other south Asian countries. The only good to come: the strong winds cleared up the smog for almost two days (yipee). Beerlinda, Wayne-o et all are in Oz, so I`m left to my own devices.

Made my challenge for the week (3 times at the gym), combined with 3 times in LKF drinking...I`ll call the week = even.

feeling like I'm 22 ...joking!

The work week was not so much fun, so I made up for it on the weekend. First things first...3 times a the gym last week = check!. So on Friday, went to the "Distinguished Speakers" series and listen to a fairly Senior (in rank) speak ...from the evil empire (Microsoft ...MOZILLA forever!) .... boring ! 120 minutes of my life that I will never get back, but she did plug the hell out of the Microsoft (kinda ah-) live product. Highlight of the 120 minutes...the Professor was from Canada and managed to wrangle in a reference to Swiss Chalet....if your Canadian, it will bring you a mild chuckle.

Then started the weekend, mind you...Paul Anka was playing at the same venue ...uh huh, but I still chose to leave.

I had a social bevvie at the bank lounge, then another few in LKF. Saturday, worked again (apparently on my day off?) and then in the evening, went for an ok meal at the Fringe Club , but also purchased a membership (support the arts!). Met up at the 2121 bar in LKF, watched some footie (Liverpooooooooolllllll) and then went clubbing. Yep, I said clubbing. So enter the Dragon-I. See earlier previous posts about going to night clubs....except this one had way more posers.

Sunday ...a quick brunch for the Webbs in-town...and then off to the Big Buddha (Tian Tan). It's freakin HUGE! is the summary of the visit. Feeling all inspired and spiritual, we walked back to Tung Chung city centre (2hr hike) to lose any good vibes (I need new knees).

.... looking back, a very good weekend.

listening to Sergio Mendes & Gnarls Barkley ....

The birthdays of April are over and only a few are know in May. Work wise, May will be a bit of a bugger, with some key people out of the office. That being said, enjoyed another long weekend in HK...and discovered a bit more. This time, Sai Kung in the day time and dinner in Cheng Chau. A coworker rented the Bank Junk (boat) again and a reasonable size group made their way to Cheng Chau for dinner. Success, enjoyed more than the famous Lamma Island.

Last weekend was the Sai Kung day trip and where the fresh market picture :

fresh market.

was taken. It's excellent to be able to discover in you own town. That beind said, I'm still failing on two of my NYE resolutions....1) Contact family to travel to HK and 2) Visit two other Asia Pacific countries. The gym resolution is becoming a habit so far this month.

Personally, having a great time with Tanja and planning out next trip to the US of A.

... doing everything but blogging.

last post was before I was going to Wayne's 40th birthday party. I went, it was cool to be having a party as such an important fixture in Hong Kong. There are pictures, but I will need to get some updates on here and my Flickr site.

Tanja had some guest in town from the home office in Germany. I like the term she uses... "big potatos" for senior management. Anyways, had a cool spanish tapas dinner at Rico's and then over to the Havana bar for some additional social bevvies. I was a little pissed off, as I left the evening to come home for a conference call that was cancelled last minute by my Amercian co-workers (aaaaahhhhhhhhh).

Friday, brought the camera with me on my journey to work. I left out the pictures of me (just waking up) and any of Tanja also in that state. However, I wanted to make a little project and post it on Flickr for everyone to see. Check the flickr site for the pictures this week.

Fact: Ben Sawin's birthday is the same day as Wayne`s (Wayne celebrated a week early. Have a look at the Webb`s link or Ben`s for pics). In attendance was both birthday boys minus Belinda (wtf!). We at ate a private restaurant... (no sign, someones basement, pics above), but dont get the wrong impression...very stylish with a lot of space and 8 or 9 tables. The concept is great, but I must admit to not being able to enjoy most fo the food. Pictures to come.

On the .... "What are you doing fatboy?" exercise program, been to the gym once last week and did a 2-3 mile walk in Hong Kong on the Brewin Path fitness trail (the Peak over to Happy Valley)..it is a very nice and a scenic walk that I will do it again. I have already been to the gym this week, so another 2 trips and goal achieved.

Travel...mongo is staying home this month, but I am trying to figure out my travel plans to the US and Canada around my friends wedding in Toronto. Keep you posted.
