Excuse me...Mr Tony?

This may be hard for some of you to get, but I had a domestic helper start mid-October. On all accounts (keep it clean!), it has been fantastic. As far as getting settled into HK, it is getting better and I`m focusing on people and hopefully will enjoy my work here at some point.

I digress...so Sally who has been reading through my cook books, chooses to make a middle-eastern dish with eggplant, seasoned lamb etc...etc... Now unlike the cookbook, she is using the bog-standard cookware provided. ..(nuff said).

It was a little packed, but she proudly put the meal in the oven to bake. Ohhhhhhhh about 40 or so minutes in...the filling is overflowing and hitting the hot plate in the oven...lil steam, little smoke..no harm. Sally (quick thinking and smart), turns off the oven, turns on fan, opens window...but ahh Mother Nature...is crafty...and the smoke is seconds away from the smoke alarm. Sally, however counld not determine the cause of the smoke.(this is the summary I have learned) (ed note: As I am proud to let everyone know that I like to cook, I also remember doing / having smiliar problems initially cooking.... and knowing where to look)

....here is comes....

In whatever typical manner, Sally is kindly trying to wake me from my Saturday afternoon couch-lounging-drooling... (after making it to the gym, and 2 seperate grocery tours of duty...) session in the living room.

poke, poke.....

I awake to a friendly face with no sense of urgency.... "excuse me Mr. Tony, there is a problem in the kitchen" ... senses are now focusing on the background noises...FIRE ALARM...what the faaaaa?

Look out ...big man moving! ...as I sweep by the calm friendly face to figure out if there is a blazing inferno in the kitchen...gladly (see above, it was not.)

Do not take communication for granted....Sally and I had a easy going chat after about sense of urgency (regardless of my sleeping state!). Being concerned about waking me...is the least we both need to worry about!

World Wide Weeb .....

So sportsfans, made it through another weekend in Hong Kong. As I am edu-macating some of my friends that have not left homebase...some nicknames for Hong Kong are: Honkers, Honky Konky, HoKo, HK SAR...yadda yadda yadda. I prefer HK, as when I was in San Francisco...people would visit and call it "Frisco"...to the terror of most residents. I gotta believe it is the same here.

My diet...haaa, I just said diet...my energy intake is suprisingly more Asian than before (stating the obvious #1). Pictured is the "other" lunch when we are not eating at the crazily cheap canteen. That would be Japanese. Yum...bad for heart...I`m sure, but great non the less. I wonder who invented the modern day oil we fry our food with....cause....it`s a worldwide habit. I mean in the UK, you can spoil perfectly fine food by frying it (ie: mars bars, tomato, bread....). In Japan, the question begs...who did the pumpkin piss off? As a result, we are battering and deep frying a helpless veggie.

Ok, Ok ...getting off little soap box. I`m back in HK, met some more new people last night in the city...2 Canadians, 2 Malaysians and a Brit. All in good fun, with a hot slice of pizza to end the night.

Onward and forward ...

Straight outta Kuala Lumpur....boyee!

being couped up in a cold conference room is plenty of fun. That being said, this is my yob, so I'll shuddup now. I can't tell you much about the city...(hotel - office - hotel). The big decision is expected after our presentation at 4pm MYH time. Thereafter, I may get taste the local nectars of Malaysia.

Other than that, the flat is coming along, my domestic helper/personal assistant/cleaner...what ever the proper title is...started on the day I was leaving the city. (great). Her first week, my b-hind in another country. I have been calling home (weird to have someone answering my phone), but she seems to be ok....whew.

On a sad note...seems to have lost my camera! I can still use my phone, but it's not the same. ....bright side...stimulation of the economy...a new camera.

Later ...

A lil break ...

I had a weekend that was pretty chill and got some of my act together in Hong Kong. Hong Kong has another holiday tomorrow (I'm digging this) at which I will still be working, but at least from home.

This "staying in one place" can be alright! I'll be travelling again in December, just need to figure out which cities and when in North America.

Swing ...batta batta batta ....miss

So the work karma stuff...gone like "charlie" in a members only club in London (I not saying I know anything about taking drugs either). You see, as HK SAR was formerly under British rule, the have adopted some of the "not so bright" mannerisms from the UK. In saying this, I mean the *** empty restaurant = sorry we are fully booked tonight! *** .If you ever lived in London and came from somewhere else, you can appreciate this. It is an absolute crack up, as they have only ordered food for the people that made reservations today.

...this comes around as on Friday night, I'm out for a meal with co-workers in the Soho area of HK. Looked in on about 6 places....same response (see quote above). End up in a location "Soho Spice" where the Manager scolded the hostess for not offering us a drink and letting us wait for 5 minutes (I'm real easy...I would have waited 60 mins, on the premise of a free drink!) for a table.

We enter Soho Spice....have a fantastic meal (ugh ...too much wine) and leave the restaurant (nice tip for all involved parties). Sneak a look at the mentioned booked restuarants as leaving...still empty!

Saturday night...stimulated the economy most of the day, then was chillin and watching the fireworks from my flat (Chinese National Day) when the batphone rang. It seems help is needed in LKF (www.lankwaifong.com) to drink beers and sign loudly to the band in Insomnia. I'm a team player, so I leave the batcave.

We handle the mission and agree to go to a "hot n trendy" place. An underground bar/club called "Drop". Whoppeee! After making it there, I discover it is a pick n choose club with membership. Names were dropped and we were in...ugh ...my flat is bigger than this place....really!

So, I am in the private, gay-friendly, house music room. Whoppeee (closing eyes sequence ....... this could be Toronto, NYC, San Francisco, Miami, Dallas, Tampa, Fl Lauderdale, Paris, Barcelona, Lisbon, Stockholm, Munich, Liverpool, etc....). After 2 overprice drinks...I'm out of the club (did ask about membership as out-of-towners still this something like this is cool).

Good to know...the world is the same everywhere. The real question is: When will I find the lounge to call my "home" and find the sugar momma (sorry slipped into dream sequence).
